This one looks good and with pretty decent price in Gitzo line plus light. I like to hear if anybody here has experience in this GM 2942 monopod? Pro and Cons. I can't seem to find any reviews on this.

Any name brand monopod will serve you well. I use a Giottos 9170 (http://www.amazon.com/Giottos-MM-9170-4-section-Aluminum-Suppports/dp/B000CLOUXK) that I paid about $65 for. It works great.
So I would assume a $200 one will as well.

I actually like this better http://www.adorama.com/GZGM2341.html, I started of with this, http://www.adorama.com/GZGM2541.html and the 2341 still feels more stable with my 400

I have the 2940 which is very similar to the 2941. I also have a CF 2540 one from Gitzo as well. The 2940 was better than all the manfrottos I own (795 and a Neotec that I sold). For a 6' shooter, it could be an inch or two longer, so I added a Manfrotto 3232 head to it (at 3229 would work too if you are into the RC2 plate system). Then it was perfectly sized.
It is not as stable as my 2540 - which is the best monopod I've ever used. But the 2940 does a nice job and it has great locks that are easy to adjust. It's a good buy, but do consider going all the way to the CF units. They are super light, super stable and rigid.

The Gitzo GM2942 Basalt Monopod will support a weight up to 22 lbs and yet still weighs less than 1.2 lb. It utilizes Gitzo's exclusive Basalt material, which is more durable and better at absorbing vibrations than aluminum models with similar dimensions. These legs are tougher than aluminum, yet are 20% lighter. It is very nice to handle.

The difference is that the 2941 is much more flexible than the CF or AL models.

Hmm... how about GM2340? 2941 is way too expensive...

I also say save up and get the GM2541... It's by far the best monopod I've used... Get this and it'll last you a loooooooooong time. Here's a pic...
I have a monopod head on it that's nice as well and recommended. Basically it's the highly recommended Manfrotto 3232 head (same that JohnJ mentioned above) with a quick release plate on top (I use arca-swiss type mounts). You could buy these seperately and screw 'em together, but I went with the Kirk Enterprises kit that has 'em pre-built together... Look on their site under Gitzo monopods and they have an accessory - Item MPA-1; Manfrotto swivel tilt head with Kirk Quick Release.
Works beautifully!

I'm curious about the new wrist strap with the belt clip on new Gitzos. Have you used the belt clip? Is it effective and convenient?

No experience with that one in particular, but for that price why wouldnt you get a carbon fiber one?

The wrist strap is handy more for piece of mind. When I'm out shooting I usually keep my camera attached to the pod and walk around with it leaning over my shoulder. I keep my hand through the wrist strap just in case I bump in to something or the camera bumps into something and otherwise might fall over. It's at a nice length where I can keep my hand through there and it doesn't hinder me from setting up at all...
Can't really comment on the belt clip. I have a small tripod/monopod holder on my bag that I slip the monopod into when not in use. So I don't really use the belt clip. It seems like it would be fine. Only thing is it might move around and bump into your leg or something as you walk...
They're both well made (as expected with Gitzo stuff).
Cheers.

I like the shorter minimum length to carry around and with 61"-63" max. Which Carbon fiber one's price range is between $150-$200?

None, but the GM2541 is about $240 and if youre willing to pay $200 for a monopod then whats another $40?
