I got one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=110128967339&rd=1&rd=1

its a very nice bag, however I think I should have gotten one size smaller, its too "deep" (by that I mean if its laying on the kitchen table, the depth of the bag is such that a lens laying flat has alot of room to slop around, the 30D has about 3-4 inches of unneeded depth in its pocket).

Would you suggest add a layer of good foam padding on top and bottom or I can still return and get this slightly smaller bag:

Thoughts?

Thank you
Dan

That bag looks like you are going to break your bag if you fill it up. If you insist on keeping it, then add things that will help you that don't weigh a lot, like personal items. You don't have to fill it with foam. Tissues, socks, hats, etc., are all good to have.

If you're laying the lenses flat, then some extra padding would help. If the bag is that deep, why not place your lenses standing up? Or, get a smaller bag.

Oh, I don't know. Camera bags are kind of like purses. They're never big enough. :)

Don't worry no matter what bag you use you'll find something wrong with it and want a different one. ;)

I was always having trouble finding a bag I liked. Finally I bought a big, I mean BIG piece of 10" deep foam. Cut it to fit the bed of my pickup truck and cut out places for camera bodies, lenses etc. The truck has a hard cover that locks so it is real secure. Havent filled it up yet. Getting close though.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

For carrying around gear I found that I like this bag. Not much of a back pack kinda guy. Heard to many horror stories.

I've heard of bags on wheels, but that's crazy!

as you increase your gear you'll want bigger and bigger bags. some of us have entire closets dedicated to older (and usually smaller) camera bags.

for now, just fill it up with your lunch or whatever else you want to carry with you.
