I need a new one. I've had my old one forver now and well, it's just done for. I'm looking for something good and sturdy but not an outrageous price so around $100 or so. Even if it costs a little extra. I know there are great things out there that haven't been branded so for anyone that first started out with something decent then got something better later when they got more money or even have something lying around they'd sell! :D

Oh right, and tall ish. At least a 6 ft. Thanks guys! Your help has always been appreciated.

I went through the same thing recently and, based largely on positive comments in this forum, ended up buying multiple DynaTran items from Amvona on eBay. Do a search here and you'll find good info. Here's a link to their current listings:

You'll see specs on the individual item pages (including height), along with useful customer reviews (not just fluff, sometimes people talk about problems). The '828' and '858' series tripods seem to be popular and regarded as very good values, although I went with other things (in my gear list post linked in my sig). I found items I was interested in, then did
'advanced searches' for 'completed listings' to get an idea of the range of price I could expect to pay if patient. Took a few times trying on each thing I bought, but eventually got good deals on them. I really feel like I got a lot for my money with the equipment from Amvona.

Hope this helps.

I started off with a cheapo Walmart tripod. That was before i learned about Amvona's Dynatran tripods on eBay. I didn't know for the same price, i could have gotten a tripod 100X better quality than the Walmart tripod.
I am now a happy user of their AT-CF994 carbon fiber tripod. As mentioned by Dah-Dee, the AT-828 and AT-858 are rock solid and would get the job done at amazingly low price. If you prefer lighter tripod and don't mind spending a little more, their AT-CF94 legs and ATH-H96 ballhead make great combo too.
