SD vs SDHC

I see 4GB cards in both SD and SDHC type. If a device can use either, is there an advantage to one over the other? Or is it much ado about nothing? I see the same brand and same speed for both both not at the same cost.

All 4GB should be SDHC...unless I read wrong.

SDHC is a standard. 4 GB in straight SD is a kludge. Stick with the standard. You know they'll continue to perform consistently in new equipment. But for your SD600, I'd just stick with 2 GB. It's not, AFAIK, SDHC-capable, and 4 GB SD cards are a crap shoot. 2 GB is still good for around 700 Large-Superfine shots or 17 min. best quality video.

Thanks for the info. It's not like the cost difference is so great to be an issue with me. BTW, it's not for my SD600, I use a 1GB card in it and never get anywhere even 1/3 full. I have a 2GB CF card in my 20D and if I get the 1D3 I hope to get in June, I wanted a 2GB SD card so as to have backup to the 4GB cards I plan to use in the new camera.

The SD600 will run SanDisk's regular or Ultra 2 GB SD cards no problem. That's what are in my wife's camera. I'd stick with the SDHC for the 1D3. Might as well go with the latest spec.
