Has anyone had any luck on aftermarket replacements for the NP-E3 (for 1D). If so, what brands do you recommend? After searching the forum, it looks like Black Diamond is an option, but I wanted to see if anyone has had any better luck.

I recommend Canon...I have two higher capacity batteries, one Lenmar 1800 mah and one Synergy Digital 2200 mah...neither lasts as long as regular Canon NP-E3s.

If you do a search you will find lots of old threads on the use of the Black Diamond NP E3 equivalent.

they are quite cheap and last much longer than the Canon, I would guess 1/4-1/3 (its noticeable!) longer. I have used 2 for the past 3 years. However they have gone through a few periods of fit problems, once 4 years agowith the end cap, and once duing the past year with the recharge plug. Recently I have not seen any threads complaining about them on this or other Canon forums, so I presume the fit issues have cleared up? My Digital Discount is a very reliable retailer and will replace any units you have trouble with, but some would forgo the 1/5 price of OEM to not deal with even remote possiblity of potential returns.
