Any of you folks using the new (in UK) Manfrotto Modo tripod yet? How have you found it? It seems light and portable - but is it stable? Your thoughts, please, folks. - Tezzer, UK

From what I've seen, it's a pretty lightweight tripod. Probable geared more toward a point and shoot, or small camcorder. An XT with a kit lens, maybe, but I wouldn't want to put anything heavier on one.

I've got the modo 785B and yeah it is deffinately a lightweight tripod. I use it with my 400d, kit lens/ 70-300 IS and as long as you don't touch it it's fine. I've taken loads of 30s exposure's with it and they're all crisp. I did use the timer and mirror lock-up though which helps. I guess if it was howling wind and you were using a long lens you might get some shake. It's good for upto 2Kg which is more than adequate for my lenses.

I'm sure a more robust one would be better but this tripod is so protable I have no qualms about taking it with me anywhere which means it gets more use than a heavy duty 'pod probably would which is only a good thing.

Many thanks for that. I reckon my 20D and EF24-105 IS zoom add up to mroe than 2kg. I like the portability but maybe I shd think again. Cheers - Tezzer
