View Full Version : Extreme II Cards Price Trend Question

I see that the 2GB Sandisk Ultra II CF cards are as cheap as they have ever been.

I have a Reb XT and I'm pretty sure that the Ultra II transfer speed is about as much as the Reb XT can handle. I believe that a faster rated card would not help my Camera's Performance.

SO my question is... do you think that the Ultra II cards are going to be discontinued soon? Are we now seeing the lowest possible price.

I'm wondering if I should pick up a card now instead of deciding to get one later. I'm worried that later I might only to find Extreme III speed and above cards and they would cost more without improved performance.

Opinions?

Do you mean Extreme III or Ultra II? AFAIK, there wasn't an Extreme II.

OTOH, I wouldn't buy a card before I need it. If you don't need a card now, wait until you do, then get whatever is priced right then. It'll be faster; it'll probably be bigger; but it won't cost significantly more (and may cost less). AND it'll be a better match for your next camera, whatever that may be.

Flash prices at the IC level are in freefall right now. I'd hold on a bit to see how much more of that trickles through into the card market.

Doh ! Yea.. I meant Ultra II. I edited my original post to read Ultra and not Extreme

Well I wouldn't say I NEED another card but I only have one (2GB) right now. I kind think it would be good to have another anyways.

If you like the price, and you have a need for the card, buy it now. If you perceive a need, there's no reason to delay in filling it.
