I've been searching online and have failed to find a data chart that will tell me the capacities of images on a memory card. I only found this one, which has RAW and JPEG separately, but I would like to know about RAW+JPEG. Is there one somewhere out there?

http://www.allmemorycards.com/glossary/digital-image-storage.htm

or can I just add the MB for RAW and the MB for JPEG and that will give me the amount?

You can add them together and you will get a number for it. But as with all images, they vary in size due to what the image is.

On my Rebel XT, if I select RAW + JPEG, then I get 83 shots on a 1 gig card. Raw only = 116 shots. and JPEG large = 291 shots.

The above is what is displayed on the LCD on the camera. Hope that helps.

I know for a fact that it's in the manual for all possible combinations of RAW/JPG for the 20D (page 47). I assume it's in the others too...

The number of shots displayed on the camera changes according to the selected ISO. Higher ISO shots have more noise and are therefore less compressible - so the larger files mean fewer per card.

There's no exact formula - as the sizes of both JPEG and RAW files depends on the contents. The camera's LCD tends to be a little pessimistic.
