I had my HD in the holster, hooked to my belt. Went to the urinal, and while I was trying to contemplate E=mc2 while peeing, I heard a loud clunking sound.

Arrrgghh.. my spanking brand new, never-been-used, hyperdrive slipped from the belt, and fell hitting the tile floor.

Turned it on, and it seems good... but I'm on my vacation and don't know if this thing broke, or if the hard disk got damaged.

Good news is everything works fine and I was able to use it without any problems.

I'm using Hitachi Travelstar 80GB drives. They can survive a waist-high fall and still work!

did you test it? You seem to have access to a PC.

Not uncommon for harddrives that are intended for laptop use to be able to withstand 20G shock.

I inserted my 1GB card it seemed to copy without problems and no weird noises. Copied 8GB total and when I got home, I downloaded all the files . Everything is A-OK.

I've dropped my hyperdrive twice (I've stopped using the holster that came with it, the velcro comes apart too easily) with no bad coming of it. Id hate to drop my laptop or hyperdrive again, but both have been through some pretty good knocks and the HD's hae come through fine.
