I am looking to purchase a Battery Grip for my Rebel XT and I am trying to save some money so I was looking at the Opteka Professional Battery Grip but I wanted some input from someone that owns one or has tried it. Is it a big drop from the Canon Grip? Thank you for any advice you can give me!

Most people who have one think they're good - go for it!

I own it and love it. I have also used the Canon grip and the only difference is the button on the Opteka is slightly softer with a bit less definition between the half press and the full shutter release.

but it is definitely worth the money, I strongly recommened this. I honestly don't know what I would do without mine.

An awfull lot of people own this grip and have posted previously that they are very happy with it. Do a quick search and I think you'll be happy if you get one

I have one, and am quite happy with it. The shutter button does have a little bit of a different feel to it, but not enough to make a difference. Do a search. There are a lot of threads on this grip, including one where the OP did a side by side comparison. Personally, for half the price, you can't go wrong.

My main concern when I bought the grip was whether or not the color would be different...but it was good! Oh yeah and I was worried about the shutter button being stiff because I heard rumors, but it works fantastic!

***edit*** didn't see that you have the silver body, i'm sure it'll still look fine though

Thank you for your help. I should have searched better, anyways I just ordered the grip for $69 plus tax from amazon.

The color is the same, looks just like the Canon except it does not say "Canon" on it. I love mine, it is always on the camera. I do not notice any difference in feel between the Opteka shutter release and the Rebel shutter release.

FWIW - 47th st Photo (via amazon.com) was very slow at shipping. They said I would have it in 3-5 business days. It took closer to three weeks! I had started the refund process through Amazon when it finally arrived. 47th st photo customer service was a joke too.
