Just got off the phone with the Wolverine customer service rep (Matt).
Very good info, wish Canon provide the same level of info to my questions when I ask.

He called because his internet is down for at least another day and they wanted to respond within a reasonable time frame. And my email had included my phone number.

I was told the FlashPro will basically get a 4MB/sec transfer not-dependent on type of card (CF/SD/MMC), but of course dependent on card speed. Basically twice the speed of the FlashPac.

Meanwhile the MVP can do 4MB/sec transfer for faster cards, but you need to set a switch and if set it to high speed it will have a problem reading slower cards (it won't let you read them if it can't). So not recommended if you are want the speed and will be going back and forth between slower and faster cards (something I do near end of session).

I also found that the batteries on the MVP are easier to switch out, but the FlashPro's batteries are just as hard as the FlashPac's to swap (4 tiny screws). However, they have a battery accessory now, although he said I could just get one easily from Radio Shack cheaper.
This is the kind of Customer Service I like. Same reason I like Alien Bees. Works great and great customer service. Canon just has the best camera period and Noink is even worse service from what I have heard or I might have been annoyed by them by now.

The best part of the conversation was I was told that if I send in my older 80GB Wolverine FlashPac they will upgrade to either the FlashPro or MVP for the cost of the difference. And I could have upgraded to 100GB model at that time, but opted for 80GB FlashPro version based on advice given about difference and my needs.
Very cool. Now that is really something I wish Canon would do. (I pay for shipping there and maybe back, but still way less then getting another device)

I confirmed that they will do this for others if they contact Wolverine customer service.

Thanks very much! I have been looking at alot of these and many seem to be indentical units sold under a variety of labels, so knowing the distributor cares about the end user is very persuasive towards going with a Wolverine.

I had a very bad exerperience with Wolverine. I purchased a 40GB Flashpro from them directly. It did not work the way it was supposed to, and the instruction manual was obviously written by someone not familiar with English; it was practically useless. I returned the unit to Wolverine. They did refund my purchase price, but refused to refund what they had (over)charged me for shipping. I thought this was unfair given the fact that the item did not function properly. I have since purchased a 60GB Flashpac (from Costco) and am quite satisfied. I would not buy direct from Wolverine.
